Sharing an email I sent to Encanto newletter subscribers one week after the Japan earthquake, tsunami and radiation havoc. I thought I would share it here as it describes a bit more how I use ho'oponopono as a method of continually acknowledging All as myself, and myself as All. At the time I wrote, I was much more worried than I am feeling at this time. I managed the commitment to go to LA on April 7th, even though I didn't gather resources to go--only to arrive there, as I felt it was important to go right NOW if even for a few days. And, I am also intent on going to Japan, as well.
My last few Casi Cielo posts have dealt a bit with the topic below, for additional reference. I thought I'd send this out soon because the subject matter is timely.
First off, I'm looking to go to Los Angeles (volunteering and writing in Japan is another option). I don't currently have the resources in tow this second to go to LA, but if it pulls together soon, I'd do a five-to-six-week real-time interactive version of this storyline that is set in a post-LA-earthquake near-future. (I've actually been working on different versions of this story since the 2008 China earthquake, and by the time the Beijing Olympics began I'd already had the first character sketched out... her name is Mai). It's actually a narrative vehicle to introduce healing methods, and possibly other things people still refer to as "miracles." (I'm not keeping any secrets; I just cannot predict what "miracles" occur when people disregard the status quo and listen to their inspiration.)
Otherwise, if it doesn't coalesce soon, I will stick with remote healing from here... and the story will be sans Los Angeles scenes.
Here's how you can help with "healing"--
right Now.
I'm writing this quickly, and I'm not showing you the complete technique of Ho'oponopono [peruse this blog], but this is the most significant part--looking within yourself, and where any outer imbalance may reflect an inner imbalance (almost like "as without, so within"). It only applies if it rings true.
I wrote this up due to numerous requests after the Japan earthquake and tsunami.
I looked within myself, and below were the most significant symbols that spoke to me at this time. You may find other symbols that speak to you better and apply more uniquely. These are just examples of what I am looking at.
(Actually, I don't like the word healing as it implies its polar opposite: brokenness. I kind of look at what I do a bit more from the Chinese perspective of "restoring balance," or harmonization ala the rainmaker).
Rainmaker
There was a great drought where the missionary Richard Wilhelm lived in China. There had not been a drop of rain and the situation became catastrophic. The Catholics made processions, the Protestants made prayers, and the Chinese burned joss sticks and shot off guns to frighten away the demons of the drought, but with no result. Finally the Chinese said: We will fetch the rain maker. And from another province, a dried up old man appeared. The only thing he asked for was a quiet little house somewhere, and there he locked himself in for three days. On the fourth day clouds gathered and there was a great snowstorm at the time of the year when no snow was expected, an unusual amount, and the town was so full of rumors about the wonderful rain maker that Wilhelm went to ask the man how he did it.
In true European fashion he said: "They call you the rain maker, will you tell me how you made the snow?" And the little Chinaman said: "I did not make the snow, I am not responsible." "But what have you done these three days?" "Oh, I can explain that. I come from another country where things are in order. Here they are out of order, they are not as they should be by the ordnance of heaven. Therefore the whole country is not in Tao, and I am also not in the natural order of things because I am in a disordered country. So I had to wait three days until I was back in Tao, and then naturally the rain came."

Earthquake:
Some trembling in any "body" is natural, and it is even how animals in the wild release emotional energy "frozen" in a flight-or-fight response. I'm not sure how to articulate this, and it is not the correct analogy yet lets go with a "symbiotic-holographic relationship" between humanity, Earth, and you. If you are feeling and freeing emotions as you go about your life moment by moment, that's great. Sometimes, there is older trauma held in the system (i.e. your body) and either you can release these emotions yourself, or the Earth can, or both. It's really, really helpful that humans do this as much as possible on their own. Resources I suggest would include Ho'oponopono (I'll teach more about this soon), The Work by Bryon Katie [this link may not be too obvious; recurring thoughts are tied to held emotions][between the worksheets online, and watching videos on her site and others on YouTube you can do this yourself without any workshops, etc.], Somatic Experiencing by Peter Levine and Tension and Trauma Release Exercises by David Berceli. Immediately after the tsunami, to prevent the potential course of acute stress disorder (and also wondering about my sister the university psychologist's mention of Post-Traumatic Growth as an alternate to PTSD), I myself went to a Burmese monastery trained meditation teacher and took his Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction course (a smattering of body-centered meditation, qigong, and yoga) begun by Jon Kabat-Zinn. (But that was just the start.)
In one of those flukes of the cosmos, I happened to watch TV (a rare occurrence) the day after the Japan earthquake and tsunami, and ending up watching the science-fiction movie, The Core. The movie isn't that great; but it does have its symbolic value. The one quote (and I don't have it handy now) is at the end when the nuclear blast restarts the "inner core" of Earth (according to the film, I'm not a scientist--just a simple shaman[1]--it's like the 'engine', metaphorically, or the heart of the physical body) which had stalled due to an imbalance. Anyhow, long story short, one of the renegade characters jumps with joy when the plan works, "Yes! Shock-waves--the Earth is healing itself!" So there is a positive component to some amount of trembling, and shaking out accumulated shock and stuck/ancient trauma for the Earth's body too. However, in my opinion, I don't think we need to allow the Earth to carry out the brunt of all this releasing. We can do our part too.
Another thing to look at is where there is any stagnant energy that needs a shake-up in your life. It is usually much more graceful to shake up your own life than to have outer circumstances do that for you. Don't look to outside experts or gurus to tell you what wants changing--trust your own your own guidance and discernment as so much advice tends to be one-size-fits-all, and isn't particularly tailored to you.
I recently read Revolver by Matt Kindt (before the Japan earthquake). It's a graphic novel with the premise that the stakes have to be pretty high before anyone 'changes' on their own. In fact, he has a double-life in dream-time that feels more real, vivid, and alive (in a sense, in the storyline his dream-time is a parallel reality) than his waking life (oblivious 30s-something following the rules of the American Dream). He actually finds he enjoys dodging one disaster after another in a sort of apocalyptic America in comparison to the complacency he feels in his so-called real life. Sometimes that is a sad truth--that people actually believe they need a shake-up in their life from outside themselves to jolt them into a new space. That's one way (and I know that hardship has it's silver linings), but anyone can decide to cooperate and collaborate with life, rather than resist life, and on its own terms without the rug being pulled out from underneath first. (It seems like life happens to be pretty dynamic if I look closely--but not in the cataclysmic sense).
Tsunami, and/or flooding:
I know this one too well [for new readers, I was on a beach in an island in Thailand, and survived the Indian Ocean tsunami in December 2004]. The ocean represents the emotional body of Earth (reflecting humanity's again in that less-than-adequate-explained "symbiotic-holographic" relationship). Symbolically, a tsunami (and the levees coming down after Katrina qualifies too) is about attempting to keep overwhelming emotions at bay or "under control", rather than feel them and allow their expression. Since several earthquakes in several years (not all of them, for instance the China quakes) have been on the Ring of Fire (Chile, New Zealand, Japan) it is also helpful to look at where we stuff emotions or suppress expression of any kind that, if we are not allowing them to vent once in a while, might get to a boiling point and explode under that pressure that sought to keep them suppressed.
Nuclear energy:
Nuclear energy represents the white light. Alas, sometimes it is still too intense (yet) for the physical plane of reality. The white light represents the light of Enlightenment [which begins with the realization that there is only one Beingness, no separate entities], and physically affects the opening of the crown chakra and the upper chakras.
My hunch is there is an imbalance of white and dark light seeking equilibrium, or harmony.
The dark light is little known (at least for me--I only learned of it this winter myself through LuminousSelf.com), and is of a receptive, all-embracing, yin nature which helps to balance the lower chakras. The dark light is also capable of unconditionally loving all the disowned, disavowed aspects of our selves (often called the shadow in Jungian psychologist circles), and I am really reminded of The Empress (in the Tarot) and a goddess/mother archetype. Anything you that bring awareness of parts of yourself that have never been embraced to the dark light may be helpful at this time. I've attached a song with a transmission of this energy (music credits to the folks at LuminousSelf.com--email or comment if you'd like a copy). Also don't forget that this white light and dark light essentially are within you and without you and everywhere, possibly they seem dormant as they've not been consciously recognized. So you aren't truly getting a "direct transmission," it just may seem that way. The Harmonization chapter (--I believe this chapter is all online at Google Books) from Adyashanti's book, Emptiness Dancing, may also be relevant.
There is also with the radiation leaks, looking at where we are leaking energy in general. Several weeks ago, I was particularly drawn to this quote as it seemed to speak to my personal circumstances so clearly. It may not be obvious, but seeking for outside approval and confirmation is one way of draining/leaking energy. I recently re-read and re-applied (it doesn't work by reading alone) Byron Katie's book, I Need Your Love is that True? Perhaps it is of general interest as it addresses energy leakage, written by Almine:
"Abundance will not flow to its fullest extent while we live lives that leak energy and power. Tremendous bodies of information are being received on how to restore the longevity and youthfulness that was once man's birthright. We are entering a very exciting time as a human race, when these deeply mystical concepts are again accessible.
On a personal level, start to understand that you cannot harness tangible resources on one hand, while squandering their etheric counterpart on the other. Become aware of the games people play that cause your depletion of energy. Interact sparingly with those who do not uplift you. Do not pander to others, or depend on their approval--masters are self-referring for approval."
I'm not going to connect the dots for you--but I thought it also spoke to what is going on nowadays, individually and collectively. {The entry is much longer--this is just an excerpt.}
"RAVEN TOTEM:
Keynote: Magic, Shapeshifting, Creation
Cycle of Power: Winter Solstice
They are birds not intimidated by others... Because of this, they are not easy prey for other animals or birds. This implies the ability to teach you how to stir the magic of life without fear. They are known for their amorous behavior, reflecting the strong creative force to which they have access.
This creative life force can be used to work the magic of spiritual laws upon the physical plane. It can be used to go into the void and stir the energies to manifest that which you most need. The winter solstice and winter season is the time of greatest power for those with the raven as a totem. The solstice is the shortest day of the year. The sun shines the least on this day, thus it is the darkest. From that day forth, the light shines a little more each day. This is symbolic of the influence of raven. It teaches how to go into the dark and bring forth the light. With each trip in, we develop the ability to bring more light out. This is creation."
[1] Hawaiian (and other) shamans speak of four levels of reality: Objective, Subjective, Symbolic, and Holistic. There is actually a fifth--and I don't really have any name for it. Perhaps... Absolute Reality, closer to how Philip K. Dick says it, "Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away." So most of this post has been speaking at around the Symbolic level.
