"Always be ready to see what you haven't seen before.
It's a kind of looking where you don't know what you're looking for." - Corita Kent (via one of my fav blogs - whiskeyriver)"Your two original cells have a sound, have music. It is music that is not seen, is not heard, is not written down, is not sang. This will come through trillions upon trillions of avenues of expression within your essence. Whether it is the sound of water flowing, of humans laughing, of humans crying, of a bird singing, of a cat purring, or just your heart beating. When a sound is drawn to your attention, we ask you to go into that sound, to become it, to gain entrance into its truth, its gift, and its essence." - Quantum Awakening
p.s. Heading back to San Jose Monday. Too sentimental to write a thing about Nola now. Okay, okay. You gotta love a town where Piety, Desire, and Independence are mere blocks from each other. Typical day so far this morning: the fruit peddler chugs along in his primary colored yellow-blue-red truck bellowing "I got bananas, I got oranges..."
Except not altogether typical; it's Mother's Day, so Andy comes over this morning to work on a surprise "family portrait" art project with his three-year-old daughter brushing in her royal blue acrylics for the curly hair.
Besides being a great harmonica musician, Andy's an artist. One of his abstract and 3D found object paintings I bought still hangs at Caffea for all to visit...you'll have to see for yourself...until it hangs in the common area of the House in Nola someday soon.
"Don't tell Gwen we're here when you see her," Andy says as I head out to my home away from home. (I've shared at least once before that all my disposable income in this lifetime seems to go to cafes and bookstores.)
And Gwen and Andy own my favorite cafe in the whole wide Earth - Caffea, aka the local synchronicity hub for creators of all stripes here in the Bywater - where I'm sitting right now...quite possibly for my last time in the next few months.
When my shotgun cottage rental expired April 30th in middle of Jazzfest, Andy and Gwen graciously offered their empty house (for sale) as a place for me to crash a bit longer. Well, better quit now, before I start being sentimental or something.
Missing all y'all already.
Happy Mother's Day.
