Since the weekend is approaching (I'm an onsite gig and not working from an Internet cafe which is my favorite "office"), I wanted to bring up The Seven-Day Weekend: Changing the Way Work Works once again (I love that title! - even management would be intrigued - for themselves at least). It's available April 12th in stores, and you can catch a Chapter 1 excerpt now at Inc. (free registration required).
It's on the next to read list along with The Future of Work: How the New Order of Business Will Shape Your Organization, Your Management Style and Your Life and Ideas are Free: How the Idea Revolution is Liberating People and Transforming Organizations.
I certainly don't subscribe to the belief that we will be an entirely free-agent nation and companies will be mainly comprised of project managers managing outsourced tasks but I do see big shifts and changes on the horizon. The workplace as we know it isn't really that productive nor truly leveraging the talents of creative class individuals.
These three books read simultaneously (yep, I do that but only with non-fiction - good fiction should be savored one at a time) should provide interesting blog fodder.
