I didn't realize that Bill Gates uses some of the same ideation strategies I do - until now. I actually do the bulk of my reading immediately before (a saturation phase, I call it) my own "think week". If it works for Bill, perhaps more of us should consider these "creative class" time-outs.
Microsoft's chief software architect recently returned from one of his fabled "Think Weeks" full of ideas...[Says Gates:] "I go off for a week with no interruptions. In fact, this one I was pretty religious about not doing e-mail, no phone calls and just day and night, other than sleeping, I'm reading."
